Information for non-Catholic Families |
|
Non-Catholic families are finding Catholic schools a blessing.
Currently, 50% of our student body is non-Catholic.
Many non-Catholic families seek a faith-based education for their children, while others seek an affordable private school education. Whatever the reason, many parents are finding St. Mary's School fits their family. Many parents believe their children are more comfortable being Protestant in a Catholic school than they are in a public school. St. Mary's does not discriminate against students of other religions. In fact, non-Catholic students are encouraged to offer insights and comparison of their own faith tradition.
There must be a willingness on the part of the parents and students to be influenced by the religious climate and religious values taught. Non-Catholic students are expected to attend all religious exercises held during school time, including Mass. They are expected to participate in the recitation of prayers, in singing, and in other non-sacramental activities. They will not, however, receive the Sacraments (Holy Communion, Penance, or Confirmation). In the classroom, non-Catholic students participate in religion classes and are encouraged to share about their own faith. Non-Catholic students are expected to regularly attend their own church.
